On the 26th October, the Cheadle Lantern Parade took place. The event was the finale to 2024’s Cheadle Arts Festival. The Festival is organised by Cheadle Arts, a volunteer group promoting arts in the community, with support and contribution from various groups and individuals, especially Outside.
The theme of this year’s festival was Light & Dark. Most fittingly, the festival culminated on the evening of the 26th October with the Cheadle Lantern Parade. Lanterns were made by members of the public, community workshops and schools. And joining the Lantern Parde through the town centre were North East based Worldbeaters Music street-theatre group Spark! – a street troupe wonderfully combining drumming, choreography and fantastic lighting display
I took the opportunity to attend the event and practice some night street photography, join the parade and enjoy the show. Do check out the community arts work of Cheadle Arts and Outside, and if Spark! are ever in a town near you, I absolutely recommend you get down there and appreciate their wonderful performance
