SONGS & LYRICS

Songwriter holding an acoustic guitar viewed side on, wearing white short and jeans. Image is a self portrait photograph

Once upon on a time I wrote songs and played them.  I always thought of myself as a writer rather than a musician, and music just happened to be the medium I wrote in.

Lyrics are below, and you can listen to the songs via Soundcloud.

This time gonna listen right

For certain, gonna fall a little

Breakdown, eyes mouth shut tight

Tonight gonna hear that whisper

Come on now, come without it

Take me in, dance around it

I'd say, I'd say we're blood now

Just a call, I didn't mean to wake you

Let our abiding laughter sound

And a tear for an ever after

Come on now, come without it

Take me in, dance around it

Tangle, wrapped up in white sheets and skin

So beautifully bridled

I forget my breath as I look down

It's a harbour, when you're invited

Come on now, come without it

Take me in, dance around it

One goodbye, one hello, eyes shut tight, now I know

BLESSED IN BLUE (listen via Soundcloud)

If you're gonna fall, fall tonight

Don't wake before morning light

The rags you wore, they could never taint therin

The riches found, that's how I thought, that's how I fell

Party to a ride, feel a miss

Part of me could never picture this

A cryin' shame, I can feel your tears like wine

I've ever known, there is none so cruel as time

Feels like I've lived this for the thousandth time

I watch their passing out parade, I fall to you

I'm blessed in blue

Will you raise a smile when all is passed

Remember this - it was all I had

A silent witness, way too proud or just too dumb

One more hard night, another season on the run

ALL THESE NIGHTS (listen via Soundcloud)

Lost in the rain in this province where the streets like rivers, flow

I know the walls that hold you

It's our time, let's go

This town is breaking, and all my thoughts they stray

All these nights I'm dreaming, it all comes down in rain

Don't you want to stop fighting?

Don't you wanna feel at home?

You look so pure when you're sleeping, angel-like, not alone

All the hours are crawling for a soul aflame

All these nights I'm dreaming, it all comes down in rain

Don't be fooled now, It's alright now, we're all watching you outside

KILL ME GOODBYE (listen via Soundcloud)

Can you feel the shaking, must be something to do with the rain

We can shut it all outside, please don't lie

There's a time to be late and there's something just under your skin

Caught the smell of the diesel and dirt, don't it hurt

Kill me goodbye, no don't you cry

Don't you keep me waiting

These foolish things, it is how it is

Don't you leave it faithless

Don't take this trouble from me, God knows you've got enough of your own

Touched by Sunday one more time, it's a crime

Come on and leave your mark on me I've got the time and I've got the need

Everything that you want right now chases doubt

We were never so far from from ourselves that we couldn't find what binds us in here

Don't let the light in just yet, i just want to lay here a while

Be everything, be nothing, but be adored

If I needed would you run, would you crawl would you come back down here

Lazy, scared and alone - is this all that we'll be?

ABEL AT LAST (listen via Soundcloud)

My legs were shaking as I reached out across the table for a light

You and i, we pay the price

For those memories that were not mine

We'll keep paying for their past

Til we bury Abel at last

How many days were taken

Your skin laid bare

What price another tear shed

For every friend out there

You and i, we pay the price

For those memories that were not mine

But my heart it pulled me through

Past the ghost of Abel to you

Ah, she's such a sweet thing but never quite at home

Such a dreamer's dreamer

Yet so politely right

And she dances halfway between the sun and the moonlight

To hold everything she says, is to hold nothing at all

We made home before first light

Feeling close is feeling alive

One last hope we've yet to cast

Still to bury Abel at last
